WWHD will host Stamford Health System’s Mobile Wellness Program Mammography Screening

The  Health District will be hosting Stamford Health System’s Mobile Wellness Program mammography van on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at the district’s office from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.  Women age 35 and over are eligible for the Mobile mammography screening.  To schedule an appointment call 1-800-277-7981; however, walk-ins are welcome.

Stamford Health System’s Mobile Wellness Service provides all results of the screening directly to the patient and her physician, and are kept strictly confidential.  Most insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare.  There is no charge to women without insurance; this is made possible by a grant from the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greenwich and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

“Mammograms are an effective method of early detection of breast cancer,” said Monica Wheeler, RN, Community Health Director of the Westport Weston Health District.  “Most cases of breast cancer are not preventable, but early detection by regular mammography can identify cancer several years before physical symptoms develop.”
